The festival is significant for its contributions toward solidifying both the religious and political paradigms of ‘Mardukite’ Babylon. The festival is also known by its Sumerian-derived Akkadian name – A.KI.TI or A.KI.TU – meaning ‘On Earth, Life’. This large public festival observance is a reconfirmation of the supremacy of MARDUK and the Babylonian Pantheon and is probably the single most important ancient ‘holiday’ for the tradition.
After the time of gods had come and gone, the priests and kings continued to observe the ceremonial customs using representative statuary to symbolized the ‘divine’ forms of Marduk and Nabu as they make a procession through the streets of Babylon and are placed in the temples to witness a dramatic reenactment of the Enuma Elis and other rites and rituals that commemorate the ‘Mardukite’ tradition (paradigm) and seal the position of the priests and king as the ‘chosen’ ambassadors and intermediaries between the ‘gods’ of heaven and the people of earth.

…worshipers of Marduk? …stuff-shirted quasi-historians? …perhaps, failed Masons? …no. …are they, then deranged occultists restricted to some long forgotten Mesopotamian paradigm, unable to see beyond the sands of the desert long forgotten? …not even. I see… so, perhaps they are just the figment of this guy, Joshua Free’s, imagination — some outspoken kid who someone made the mistake of giving a YouTube account to? …ok, well, now you’re just being mean!
The term “Mardukite” had received little attention prior to its use by Joshua Free, starting in 2005. Although clearly connected to the Anunnaki being known in Babylonian literature (and traditions) as MARDUK, the organization has never once advocated the ‘worship’ of this being, or any being in the conventional sense of the word.
JOSHUA FREE explains that the choice of the term, among many personal reasons, was due to the very lack of its use prior.
“Rather than try to ‘recapture’ or ‘reform’ the focus and beliefs from within an existing paradigm, it became clear to me that the solution was in returning to the most ancient sources and foundations of human societal civilizations in order to bring the clearest message through on what happened to bring things to the point they are now and what this might mean for the future,” says Free.

No one could be certain what the future would hold when JOSHUA FREE decided to publicly launch ‘Mardukite Ministries‘ coinciding with the release of ARCANUM (Liber-A) and BOOK OF ELVEN-FAERIE (Liber-D) at the 2008 Summer Solstice with the First National Mardukite Convocation taking place in the original Offices maintained in Greenwood Village, Colorado until late 2009.
Initial work by a covert underground ‘Mardukite Research Organization‘ (Liber-A and Liber-D) paved foundations for later developments. Two years went toward founding the MARDUKITES directly. From late-summer 2008 through late-summer 2009 (designated officially as the “Year-1” period), an intensive cycle of work establishing a satisfactory ‘core‘ for the revival interest of the Babylonian-specific “Mardukite” tradition.
A large quantity of colleague contacts and productive peers were either pulled into the ranks or encouraged to collaborate with exhaustive volunteer efforts. This cycle included the now infamous Necronomicon of Joshua Free (Liber N), in addition to its companion pieces: Necronomicon Liturgy & Lore (Liber L), Necronomicon Gatekeepers Grimoire (Liber G) and the originally untitled Necronomicon Shadows (Liber 9) – all of which later appeared in the Mardukite Year-1 Anthology: THE NECRONOMICOM ANUNNAKI BIBLE.

After making his first tour of the Pacific Northwest in late 2009, JOSHUA FREE replanted the Offices in Castle Rock, Colorado several months later — in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. For nearly two years the ‘Mardukite Research Organization‘ remained headquartered from that location for the Year-2 and Year-3 cycles of R&D, materials for the Year-2 Anthology, GATES OF THE NECRONOMICON, culminates together Sumerian Religion (Liber 50), Necronomicon Revelations (Liber R) and Babylonian Myth & Magic (Liber 51, now revised as Sumerian Tradition).

“Some followers of other monotheistic religions mistakenly equate the Peacock Angel with their own unredeemed evil spirit Satan, which has incited centuries of persecution of the Yazidi as “devil worshipers.” Persecution of Yazidis has continued in their home communities within the borders of modern Iraq, under both Saddam Hussein and fundamentalist Sunni Muslim revolutionaries. In August 2014 the Yazidi were targeted by Islamic State, or ISIS, in its campaign to “purify” Iraq and neighboring countries of non-Islamic influences. The Yezidi are a distinct genetic Mesopotamian sect that still resides in Northern Iraq and can trace its blood and traditions to the ancient ANUNNAKI quite easily. It is a unique form of Mardukite Monotheism presented under the guise of a messenger named Melek Ta’us (very similar to the manifestation of MARDUK as Mithras and Mazda – as One – in the Zoroastrian schema. This same current of energy is also
manifest in Maitreya for Buddhists.
In accordance with the Yezidic Tradition, there is an All-Father or YAZDAN who created the SevenANUNNAKI (“emissaries” or “angels”) including Azazel (or Azazil – generally equated with Erra/Nergal or Samas/Shammash/Utu). The word “Azif” and the actual book, “Al Azif”, is a Yezidic tome detailing the lore, or literally “howls” of the Djinns (or jinn).

Some scholars of the Necronomicon-Cycle will note that one of the popular Arabic translations for the title of the work is, in fact, Al Azif. The association with the “buzzing of insects” could be meant to mean both the “swarm” and the “sound,” furthering the connection of the Outer Ones with “UFO” extraterrestrial beings…
One specific quality of the Yezidi culture is: the Yezidis claim to share Adamic (from “Adam”) descent but not of Eve. Their lore also prompts that the remaining global population outside of their sect is also outside of this “special” lineage.
