To the prehistoric Cult of Lilith – her Children of the Night – she is the Mother Goddess, the Isis, the Kali, the Inanna-Ishtar, a supreme corporeal representation of feminine energy in the Universe. Her cult predates all known religions. Her legacy survives until Babylon and its influence on early Semitic Judaism and Hebrew Mythology.
Mesopotamian traditions, from Sumer and Babylon, were rooted in pragmatism and civic functionality. These newer Semitic beliefs, spreading like wildfire, were more superstitious, even when borrowing lore directly from the Babylonians. An perfect example is the Babylonian Talmud of the Jews, written by them in Babylon during the “Exile.”
Lore and tradition preserved in Babylon are borrowed from, bastardized and then replaced by the Hebrew paradigm. Lilith becomes “Adam’s” first wife according to ancient Rabbinical lore. In this pre-Christian version, it is Lilith who is first banished from Eden (E.DIN in Sumerian) and returns later as the serpent-snake (dragon).
Early religious traditions blamed LILITH or her Vampyric spawn – the Lilu (called Alu in Hebrew) – for deaths of babies, impotency in males, infidelity and infertility among couples, and yes, believe it or not, even nocturnal emissions.
Original lore of the Alu describes physical Children of Lilith. Later traditions treated them as “spirits” that were forced to use animated corpses to interact with this world, draining men of their “vital” energies and/or feeding on Blood. Rabbinical lore lists LILITH as Queen of the Succubi, a type of Undead female representing a Vampyre far better than later ethereal Christian “demons” associated with orthodox beliefs today.
Being very sexually confused beings, humans satisfied their curiosities throughout the Dark Ages with Demonologie. This field of “study” started exclusively with sexually charged Vampyric beings – classified as Incubus and Succubi. These descendants of LILITH animated dead bodies to inhabit for sexual purposes. They drained vital energies from men and impregnated women.
Later cultural traditions develop these ideas further with changelings, alien babies and virgin births – some connected ones connected to this tradition being Jesus and Myrddin (the historical Merlyn). Lore of LILITH remained widely known general knowledge until the 17th century. Many people are surprised to hear this “occult” information today.
Based on recorded history, followers and cultists of LILITH are the first detractors from the “Realm” – meaning the original “rebels” within society, the world of Lights. As outsiders to ancient Mesopotamian tradition, Vampyres, Lycans and Witches are all permanently labeled “Wanderers” who exist beyond the Realm. To rival the cultist’s mystical powers and witches operating outside the system (outside the Realm), ancient Sumerians developed an elaborate ritual called the MAQLU. The ceremony takes multiple days to complete.
Sumerian Utukku and the Babylonian Edimmu (or Alu) are described on the Surpu tablet series as “suckers of blood and eaters of flesh.” The name Edimmu translates to mean “what is removed” – literally “that which, taken away” – indicating a person who died “before their time.” Those who had violent deaths, died in the desert or were turned away from the House of Death , become the Edimmu, wandering the wastelands for an eternal Existence. The immortal part – Ascended, etheric, “godhead,” “shade” or egregore – of LILITH is kept alive by those still honoring, including Her own Children of the Night, for at least 6,000 years unbroken.
