It was 14 years ago, on the Summer Solstice of 2008 that Joshua Free (formerly known as Merlyn Stone in the 1990’s) emerged from a seven-year journey in the underground, out of sight from the general public, and launched what became a fundamentally new genre of the modern New Age with the inception of the Mardukite Research Org and the original Mardukite Truth Seeker Press (now the Joshua Free Imprint or JFI Publishing) premiere presentation of The Great Magickal Arcanum.
But what is more likely to have been far more memorable to many of those following along for over a decade is the launch of the Mardukite Chamberlains, coinciding with the Global Beltane Gate Ritual of 2009 and its annual revisiting for each year since — and we have been active and avidly working all this time on one purpose or project or another.
While there are many newcomers that were perhaps not around for the original event, the Mardukite Office has consistently encouraged a synchronous observance of this annual ‘threshold’ every year… and each year our movement has grown; enlarged itself with increased membership — and also the publication of titles and editions that consistently help drive the economics behind new developments.
Most recently, on Beltane 2020, our energetic intentions were directed to drive forward the acquisition and development of a more permanent home for the Mardukite Offices and within two months, the Mardukite Borsippa HQ was established in the Colorado San Luis Valley, now the global home and headquarters for the Founding Church of Mardukite Zuism, Mardukite Academy and Systemology Society.

Last year, in 2021, our efforts shifted to establishing a stronger presence for Mardukite Systemology and the work that would ‘bridge’ Grade-IV to Grade-V. Within only a few months, starting in the Summer of 2021, a new series of workshops and the “Freedom From” lectures were given at the Mardukite Academy and now compose the newly released volume Way of the Wizard by Joshua Free — specifically planned for global distribution premiering on Beltane 2022.
Also released today, for Beltane 2022, is the Mardukite Academy revised second edition of the underground classic Crystal Clear by Joshua Free.
Another soon-to-be released revised Mardukite Academy second edition in this series is the esoteric bestselling systemology ‘grimoire’: Imaginomicon, which debuts globally on May 19, 2022.
Many antiquated scholarly references to the “Books of Fferyllt” or the “Pheryllt” themselves may be found by a diligent scholar (many of which are paraphrased in this special anniversary collector’s edition of “The Pheryllt Researches”). Whatever bits trickle down from classical literature and antiquarian druidism to satisfy a modern thirst for the ‘pheryllt paradigm’ have been collected together in one place – a sacred book once thirded in former presentations of a ‘Pheryllt Trilogy’ and are now made whole – forming a complete source book of undefiled mystical lore as a companion to the original Draconomicon volume (also available in this series separately in hardcover).
Whatever name, guise, or title we might attribute to this work as the proverbial ‘Body of the Dragon’ – and we have chosen PHERYLLT – this same lore (originally accessible to very few with small networks) serves as basis for the majority of Celtic and neo-Druidic revival of the past few centuries, not to mention other forms of ‘neo-paganism’; whether or not it has received its due credit as such.
“The Pheryllt Researches” were once only available — in their complete form — to members of the Mardukite Academy of Systemology, within the appendix section of the Grade-I Route-D Master Edition anthology textbook: “Merlyn’s Complete Book of Druidism: A Master Course in Druidry for Modern Druids” and is now published as a stand-alone hardcover title for the first time, commemorating its 25th Anniversary since originally compiled by Joshua Free (when once writing as ‘Merlyn Stone’) as an apprentice of New Forest Centre for Magickal Studies in the 1990’s.
Each year, since the inception of the modern Mardukite movement, our organization continues to observe the culturally-hybrid gate-festival of May’s Eve, Beltane or Bealtaine. For over a decade, beginning in 2009, hundreds of practitioners from around the globe have unified and synchronized their “meditations” “workings” and “directed intentions” to not only the acknowledgment of support toward the ancient legacy we represent, but also its continuation.
In 2020, the primary intention emphasized relocation of a more permanent U.S. HQ from the original Mardukite Babylonia site to elsewhere within San Luis Valley — our HQ is intended not only for our research library, but also the publishing office of the Joshua Free Imprint, a counseling center and future chapel for The Founding Church of Mardukite Zuism & Systemology Society. (Additionally, elsewhere in the world, David Zibert placed intentions on collaborating for a French-Canadian branch of the Mardukite Chamberlains, a Mardukite Zuist Temple and Systemological Society. He has been consistently providing French translations of our material for several years.)
HAPPY BELTANE from Mardukite Borsippa HQ San Luis Valley
Here we are a year later and the May Blossoms are blooming here on the Apricot tree for Beltane over at the new Mardukite Borsippa HQ.
Apricot trees are one of many species that blossom around the end of April, providing natural philosophers and other more earth-oriented folk with observably indicating Beltane and the turning of the Wheel of the Year. This festival was once an annual staple of other mystical traditions and religions throughout ancient Europe, made especially popular by the Celtic Druids.
The May Pole, long reduced academically to little more than a phallic symbol, actually is representative of the World Tree, or else the Gateway between all Worlds — all Universes.
Beltane 2021 also commemorates six months or turning point since Samhain 2021 and the completed realization of the Mardukite Academy of Systemology — a grand unification of all work by Joshua Free since 1995 into a precise methodology of study and practice traversing three “Grades” — referred to as the “Master Grades” composed of: –“The Route of Magick and Mysticism” (Grade I, Route A) –“The Route of Druidism and the Dragon Legacy” (Grade I, Route D) –“The Route of Mesopotamian Mystery Tradition” (Grade-II) and finally –“The Route of Mardukite Systemology” (Grade III).

Here we are in 2020 and we take a moment to look back on the legacy of Beltane both ancient and modern in this miniseries of blogposts!
“The Belteine or Beltane festival is named such after the ‘Fires of Bel’ or ‘Belinos’—most likely a remnant of Bel Marduk or known elsewhere in the Canaanite mutation of ‘Baal.’ It was actual on the dawn of an ancient Belteine when the Tuatha d’Anu arrived in Ireland and set fire to their own ships. The most commonly known tradition of May Day is the ‘May Pole’—a symbol of the ‘World Tree’ that is traditionally danced around while weaving ribbons hung from the top. ‘May Day’ is, of course, May 1st, though the festival begins the night before—on May’s Eve—with the construction of two large bonfires built side-by-side, which are then consecrated to Bel before set aflame. Ancient Celts marched their cattle in procession between these two flames as they led them out to pasture for the year. Some evening observances may be held, however this following rite is typically observed at noon.”

It is in many ways possible that proto-Druid and Celtic observations of “Beltane” resulted from the most significant event of the ancient nearly prehistoric legacy: the arrival of the Tuatha d’Anu (or Tuatha de Dannan) in Western Europe.
“Lore suggests that the ‘Children of the Stars’ [Tuatha d’Anu] arrived in Keltia on ‘Beltane’—May’s Eve—approximately five thousand years ago. The race or clan was socially represented by four primary ‘leaders’ or ‘warriors,’ each from a different city or capital in their ‘homelands’—wherever this might be, as the subject turns to the domain of legend…”

“They [Tuatha d’Anu] arrived there on Beltane (May Day or May’s Eve) ‘concealed in a magical fog or mist.’ While the European mainland lay off to the East and South of Ireland, the Tuatha D’Anu arrived from the North and West of the Island, settling first in the mountains of Western Ireland. This led many to believe they were the ‘People of the North’ or that they came from somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. But, their ships, on the other hand, were said to be of a “sky-nature,” which somehow caused an uncanny solar eclipse for the first three days of their arrival…”

Beltane is an unusual festival or annual cross-quarter event that is literally called the “Fires of Bel” or “Bel-teine.” The name “Bel” for “lord” or “god” being an obvious import from the Ancient Mystery School. In Celtic and Druidic tradition, this festival stood apart from all of the others as the most supreme “Fire Festival” in Keltia, observed with a bonfire, which could only be ignited by the most esoteric means:
“Many scholars today are of the mind that the Druid’s Gem ‘no larger than an apple’ was manufactured from glass—a substance linking the item to both the Motherhood of Avalon, residing on the ‘Isle of Apples’ (alternatively, the ‘Isle of Glas’ or ‘Glastonbury’) and the Welsh alchemical Druid fire-workers—the ‘Pheryllt.’ It has been further suggested by certain scholars, notably Lady Flavia Anderson in ‘The Ancient Secret,’ that the original serpent’s eggs were spheres of clear crystal used to light the Druidic Beltane ‘needfires’ via focused sunlight.”

In nearly all cultures that observe it, the annual Beltane threshold on the eve of May is a bridge between worlds, a critical doorway or bridge that greatly mirrors the significances held in regard to Samhain—taking place in “earth-time” exactly opposite in the year on the eve of November. In fact, a note regarding this even appears in The Draconomicon by Joshua Free (also available in Merlyn’s Complete Book of Druidism), stating “Although these types of evocation seem typical of Samhain, esoteric lore also indicates that the Beltane Gate is actually more accessible from “our” side, at the exactly opposite “peak” of the year.”
