Secret Legacy of ‘Occult Underground’ (and influence on ‘New Age’) Revealed in Obscure Grimoires — Draconomicon, Elvenomicon, Necronomicon, Novem Portis

This year, we commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the first ‘New Age’ book by Joshua Free (then writing as ‘Merlyn Stone’) – available in March 2026 as an oversized deluxe hardcover anthology titled: THE COMPLETE DRACONOMICON: BOOK OF ANCIENT DRAGON MAGICK AND TREASURY OF DRUID LORE.

Whilst he spent thirty years as a mystic philosopher on his own personal mission to develop (what is now considered) ‘New Standard Systemology’ as a vehicle for metaphysical ‘Ascension’, Joshua Free also contributed a wealth of material to the modern ‘Occult Underground’ as a prodigious author. Once restricted to a select few that could access it, these materials are now widely published by JFI Publications (‘The Joshua Free Imprint’, formerly ‘Mardukite Truth Seeker Press’).

THE COMPLETE DRACONOMICON (30TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION) continues efforts to streamline various JFI deluxe anniversary releases over the past couple years, including:

“The Complete Elvenomicon (Deluxe 20th Anniversary)”, “Necronomicon: The Complete Anunnaki Bible (Deluxe 15th Anniversary)”, “The Complete Draconomicon (Deluxe 30th Anniversary)”, and “Novem Portis (Deluxe)”.

THE COMPLETE ELVENOMICON (20TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION);

NECRONOMICON: THE COMPLETE ANUNNAKI BIBLE (15TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION);

and, yes,

NOVEM PORTIS (DELUXE EDITION).

Each volume preserves its own unique portion of the ‘Underground Occult’ legacy, yet is directly related to the others. When studied chronologically in sequence, the material demonstrates a single continuous stream of ‘forbidden knowledge’. Combined together these volumes form a significant part of the complete esoteric library developed by Joshua Free, one that is unparalleled elsewhere today in the ‘New Age’.

For decades, readers of prestigious works by Joshua Free have taken notice that the intellectual information and spiritual guidance delivered is of a much ‘higher caliber’ than what more mainstream publishers and popularly distributed titles are able to provide.

Of course, there are a few folks that still ‘judge books by covers and titles’ that are unable to consider the work beyond the pseudoepigraphic presentations that Joshua Free favors – such as use of words like “draconomicon” and “elvenomicon” (etc.) to represent collections of very real esoterica!

“The Complete Elvenomicon (Deluxe 20th Anniversary)”, “Necronomicon: The Complete Anunnaki Bible (Deluxe 15th Anniversary)”, “The Complete Draconomicon (Deluxe 30th Anniversary)”, and “Novem Portis (Deluxe)”.

Readers frequently report that possession of works by Joshua Free actually replace the need to spend hundreds, even thousands, of dollars on other books with similar topics. They report that by contrast, having perused volumes written by Joshua Free a pattern forms where other sources of similar information only provide rehashes of greatly diluted watered down elements retained from the past century of ‘occultism’ and ‘esoteric tradition’. Many of these others, appearing on the surface to be ‘new’ or ‘innovative’, tend to fall short in actual practice as poorly crafted fabrications.

To consider a specific example…

THE COMPLETE DRACONOMICON reflects a holistic approach to the Dragon, in part reflecting a unique “systemology” present in some way within all works by Joshua Free. Many readers that have grown accustomed to contemporary “New Age” puff-ball materials are at risk of overlooking his esoteric contributions.

Where many other books on “dragon magick” have appeared in the New Age marketplace, what we actually find is either a dry synthesis of variegated mythologies simply sharing dragon semantics, or else a revised tradition of already established ritual magic or “wiccan” elements that simply incorporate themes and names associated with dragons. Of course, if one desired, THE COMPLETE DRACONOMICON could be used to these same ends. But that is certainly not its purpose.

THE COMPLETE DRACONOMICON provides a bridges directly to materials found within THE COMPLETE ELVENOMICON. Combined these two volumes relay many of the fundamental tenets explored by Joshua Free during his first decade of public work. When one eventually looks to find the even older source inspiring such work, then we are led to the author’s next phase of literature, mainly ‘Mesopotamia’, launched with his debut volume on the subject, NECRONOMICON: THE COMPLETE ANUNNAKI BIBLE – a collection of obscure archaic material that is further illuminated by his recension of NOVEM PORTIS.

THE COMPLETE DRACONOMICON provides a collection of revised ‘Draconomicon‘ materials (including the ‘original’) combined with the complete notebooks of ‘Pheryllt Researches‘ (previously published as ‘Draconomicon: Volume 2‘). And as special bonus: this new deluxe anniversary edition goes a step further by providing the text of ‘Secret Book of Elven-Faerie‘ as its appendix – directly connecting the material with that found in THE COMPLETE ELVENOMICON.

THE COMPLETE ELVENOMICON provides six books in one volume. It joins together the original ‘Elvenomicon‘ trilogy of discourses – ‘Secret Book of Elven-Faerie‘, ‘The Elven-Faerie Grimoire‘ and ‘The Enchanted Forest‘ – along with three recently released never-before-published companion texts to the original trilogy – ‘Secret Legacy of Elves and Faerie‘, ‘The Elven-Faerie Spellbook‘ and ‘Book of Ogham‘. (The six individual titles are also available separately as pocket-sized paperbacks.)
